O’Malley successfully raised taxes during his years as Governor to help build infrastructure and help the polluted Chesapeake Bay. Even though he did raise taxes- not popular by the way- during his first term as Governor, he successfully defeated his opponent Republican Gob. Robert Ehrlich in 2010.
